Matt Gaetz Calls Elizabeth Warren ‘Sacagawea’ Amid Uproar Over Political Decorum, Name-Calling
With many buzzing over declining political civility in the wake of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI)’s profane vow to impeach President Donald Trump, Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) decided to throw that topic out the window on Friday by taking a personal dig at Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
Appearing as the #OneLuckyGuy on Fox’s Outnumbered, Gaetz railed against the partisan rhetoric coming from the “new left.” Later, when the discussion moved towards Warren’s pre-emptive efforts to run for president, Gaetz decided to take a page out of President Trump‘s playbook by taking a shot at her questionable Native American ancestry claims.
“I know the President likes to call her ‘Pocahontas,’ but now that she’s making her way from the eastern seaboard into the center of the country, maybe Sacagawea would be more appropriate.”
When Melissa Francis noted that critics will accuse Gaetz of making a racist remark, he dug in by saying his point is about Warren’s “trustworthiness” and the misrepresentation of her heritage.
