Denis McDonough to Chuck Todd: Obama ‘Shocked’ at Ray Rice Assault
Meet the Press host Chuck Todd is a big football fan, so it’s not terribly surprising that after an interview with White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough about the president’s proposed strategy to combat ISIS/L, Todd snuck in a question about last week’s other drama.
“We have talked generally about the situation in the NFL, and the president was shocked at what he saw, let’s put it that way,” McDonough said.
Todd asked whether Obama approved of the league’s handling of the situation, which went from a paltry two game suspension for Ray Rice to an indefinite suspension after the release of the video showing Rice knocking out then-fiancée Janay Palmer.
“I don’t want to get into specific characterizations,” McDonough said. “But I think we all know Ray Rice being suspended indefinitely seems to be the right thing.”
