Megyn Kelly to Cornel West: Where’s #BlackLivesMatter Protest for State of Inner Cities?
Megyn Kelly and Dr. Cornel West faced off tonight about #BlackLivesMatter and the woman whose profane rant about the misplaced priorities of the movement went viral in a matter of days.
West understood her frustration, but said there is a clear difference between black-on-black crime and “state-sponsored violence” against black lives, which is the focus of the movement. He told Kelly, “There’s a state of siege taking place in black America.”
Kelly brought up what Ben Carson said in his op-ed today about the movement and asked where all the protests are for “the state of inner-city America.”
West insisted that the deaths of people, especially children, at the hands of black criminals, should be concerning to everyone, but the focus is still on “state-sponsored” violence and the economic abandonment of African-Americans by their political leaders.
