MSNBC Anchor Admits That Christine O’Donnell Witch Graphic Is ‘A Bit Much’
Supernova Senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell (R-DE) has been drawing a lot of attention for, among other things, a vault full of loopy, telegenic TV appearances. One such guest shot, from Bill Maher‘s defunct Politically Incorrect, features O’Donnell waxing nostalgic about dabbling in witchcraft.
The default setting for O’Donnell coverage has been mockery. On MSNBC Live today, anchor Chris Jansing teased an O’Donnell package, and made an interesting real-time observation about the producer’s decision to depict O’Donnell turning green above the “Witchy Woman” chyron.
From a satirical standpoint, it’s difficult to say just why Jansing thought “the green” was “a bit much,” as it was a relatively mild illustration of the theme.
It’s more likely, then, that she was referring to the very premise of adding that kind of satirical commentary to the clip at all, qualms that seem almost adorable in this age of ideologically branded news media.
