On Wednesday, Samantha Bee apologized for using C-word on her show that she noted she had used “many” times before on the air trying to reclaim it.
“I crossed the line. I regret it and I do apologize for it,” Bee said, addressing the controversy at the start of her TBS show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. “The problem is, a lot of women have heard that word at the worst time in their lives, and don’t want it reclaimed.”
She added: “I don’t want to inflict more pain on them. I want this show to be challenging and to be honest.”
Then, the comedienne continued on, “I never intended it to hurt anyone except Ted Cruz,” before adding that she “hated that it distracted from more important issues.”
Bee concluded my introducing censors and declaring, “sorry to break America.”
Ehe embattled show host’s comments come after controversy stemming from Bee calling First Daughter Ivanka Trump a”feckless c—” on her show last week.
The comedienne apologized the next day, noting “Sometimes I should probably have a filter. I accept that. I take it seriously when I get it right, and I do take responsibility when I get it wrong.”
Still, the controversy carried on, with some calling her to be fired for her words.
It is yet to be seen if her somewhat defiant on-air mea culpa will do much to quiet the storm surrounding her remarks.
