Source Close to Biden: ‘If He’s Healthy, He’s Going For it in 2020’
He’s running.
That’s according to MSNBC’s Donny Deutsche, who said on Friday’s episode of Morning Joe that a source close to Joe Biden told him that if the former vice president is healthy in 2020, he’ll throw his hat into the presidential ring.
74-year-old Biden has been stirring the speculation pot since he almost jumped into the race in 2016, and reignited rumors of a potential run this week when he told Oprah Winfrey in an interview that he regretted not being president.
And on Friday, during a discussion of a new report detailing Biden’s surprisingly fraternal relationship with successor Mike Pence, Deutsche made a revelation to his Morning Joe cohorts:
“I spoke to someone close to Biden, [who] said if he’s healthy, he’s going for it in 2020.”
Deutsche’s comment also comes the morning of a Politico report that hints at Biden’s deliberations over a potential 2020 run, as well as his firm conviction that President Trump be denied a second term.
“Joe Biden thinks it’s critical that Donald Trump not get a second term — and though it’s early, he doesn’t yet see anyone else who could stop that from happening,” Politico’s Edward-Isaac Dovere writes. “So, he’s been telling people privately, that might mean he’ll just have to run himself.”
