Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Rip Sarah Sanders Over ‘Mueller Madness’ Bracket
Late night hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel each fired back at White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders over her tweet depicting a “Mueller Madness” bracket of media personalities who criticized Donald Trump over the Russia investigation, which included both men.
On Tuesday night’s respective editions of CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Sanders was the guest of honor for bits lampooning her attempt at media-shaming.
Both hosts honored Sanders with derisive nicknames, Colbert calling her “Huck-a-buck,” and Kimmel going with “Sarah Huckabilly.”
Colbert’s tack was to gloat about his high seed in the competition and his solid chance at victory, although he did concede that his winning crack about collusion was a solid joke “until about 48 hours ago.”
Kimmel began by slamming the Trump campaign memo that sought to have TV producers ban Trump critics, then turned his attention to Sanders. He also noted his high ranking in the brackets, and predicted he could easily beat producer Chuck Lorre in the first round.
“But it is amazing that she has time for this in the middle of a national emergency down at the border,” Kimmel joked, adding “Poor Sarah Sanders. She’s probably just a nice, dumb lady who is the only one who would take this job. She has to constantly defend nonsense, and now she finally has a chance to fire back, and this is how she does it, with a whacky Mueller madness bracket.”
“As the president would say, SAD!” Kimmel joked.
