Tarlov Indignant When Gutfeld Downplays Trump Civil Verdict: ‘Oh, It Doesn’t Count?!’
Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov sparked an argument on The Five, Monday after she weighed in on former President Donald Trump’s defamation trial verdict, arguing that “you shouldn’t sexually assault people” and then “defame them.”
As The Five co-hosts discussed the possibility of pop star Taylor Swift endorsing President Joe Biden’s campaign, Greg Gutfeld sidetracked, “Let’s talk about that [Trump] lawsuit then. Go ahead Jessica, what are your thoughts?”
Tarlov replied, “My thoughts are that you shouldn’t sexually assault people and then you shouldn’t defame them.”
“Okay, was he found guilty of sexual assault?” questioned Gutfeld, to which Tarlov responded, “Yes, he was. He was by a jury.”
Gutfeld asked, “Was it criminal?”
Tarlov shot back, “Civil. Oh, that means it doesn’t count?!”
Jeanine Pirro then noted, “It means it’s not a guilty verdict.”
Gutfeld proceeded to quickly move on from the topic, concluding, “Yeah. Anyway, it’s always nice to bring something up that has nothing to do with the topic.”
A New York jury ordered Trump to pay E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million on Friday after finding the former president liable for defamation.
In 2023, Trump was found liable for sexually assaulting Carroll in the 1990s.
“Absolutely ridiculous!” protested Trump on Truth Social following the verdict. “They have taken away all First Amendment Rights. THIS IS NOT AMERICA.”
