‘This Is Getting Idiotic!’ Fox News Hosts Go Off on ‘Backwards Ass’ Republican Speaker Chaos

Fox News hosts on Outnumbered fumed over the GOP’s inability to reunite around a candidate for House Speaker as Jim Jordan failed to gain enough votes on the second ballot.

The House has been leaderless for the last few weeks after Kevin McCarthy was ousted after eight Republicans voted against him in a motion to vacate. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) initially moved the motion forward after McCarthy was able to narrowly avoid a government shutdown.

Moreover, Jordan has failed to gain the necessary GOP votes from moderates to earn a majority to become speaker. The Ohio lawmaker failed on a second ballot, causing hosts on Fox News to label the process as “idiotic.”

Former Trump Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany asked analyst David Webb about his thoughts on Patrick McHenry as temporary House speaker.

“McHenry is pro tem. If you change this and you start to try adjust in the speaker’s office, you affect the speaker’s office…you affect the parliamentary procedures in the Congress. You create a mess and you give the Democrats a weapon to use this,” Webb responded. “There’s a point at which whether it’s messy, you don’t like it, you’re for or against. This is getting idiotic.”

“We need some stability at this time. And it’s not all related to Israel or Ukraine funding. There are investigations underway. There is the next looming battle over the debt ceiling. There is so much more that’s going on that needs to be addressed by Congress,” he added. “Jordan’s your best chance, whether you’re for or against, because no other path exists at this time.”

Fox contributor Dagen McDowell then flamed moderate Republicans for their “backwards ass” decision to support McCarthy but not Jordan for speaker.

“Don Bacon voted for McCarthy yesterday and today. Jordan was Kevin McCarthy’s right hand. He was his lieutenant. If you like McCarthy, you like Jordan. That’s the upside down, backwards ass world that these Republicans are living in,” she noted.
