On Monday night, Trevor Noah took some shots at CNN anchors over their coverage of Hurricane Irma.
Noah played the clip of the awkward moment when a self-described “chunky” CNN reporter was explaining to Don Lemon how windy it was, and he responded by saying she was a “beautiful woman” and that there’s “nothing wrong with having a little curve.”
“Wow,” Noah reacted. “Okay, that was a bit weird because, uh… Don Lemon, that report said nothing about being beautiful… I wished the camera would have cut back to Sara [Sidner] to respond like, ‘Yeah Don, I never said I wasn’t beautiful.'”
The Daily Show host then mocked Chris Cuomo for telling viewers, “There is a strong argument to be made that standing in a storm is not a smart thing to do. We do it so you don’t have to.”
“Wait, did this guy just suggest that if reporters don’t go out into the hurricane then we’ll have to do it?” Noah asked. “Nobody has to do it. It’s like if the guys from Jackass were like, ‘Well, someone’s gonna have to let the rattlesnake bite their penis. We’re gonna do it so you don’t have to! Yeah!'”
Noah suggested to CNN that instead of having reporters reporting live from a hurricane that they could just show footage of trees blowing in the wind or better yet, putting a CNN jacket on one of the trees.
“We’d be like, ‘Man, that storm is crazy and look at the curves on that tree. Still beautiful, really beautiful.” Noah quipped. “So beautiful.”
