‘We Humiliated This Guy!’ SNL Absolutely Skewers Trump’s Meeting With Zelensky — Complete With Wild Cameo from Mike Myers as Elon Musk
Saturday Night Live was utterly ruthless in its portrayal of Friday’s Oval Office meeting between President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
In a rollicking cold open to Saturday’s show, Trump — played by James Austin Johnson — set the tone with a candid introduction of the Ukraine leader.
“I’d like to welcome President Zelensky here to this incredible trap,” Trump said. “It’s going to be a big, beautiful trap. And we’re going to attack him very soon for no reason.”
Trump and Vice President JD Vance (played by Bowen Yang) swiftly made good on that pledge.
“President Zelensky, you want to say a few words?” Trump said. “Maybe tell Mr. Putin how much you love him and that you’re sorry you invaded Russia? Maybe you offer him one night with your wife?”
Zelensky — played by Mikey Day — was barely able to get a word in, before Vance called him out for a perceived lack of gratitude.
“What happened to thank you?” Yang’s Vance told Day’s Zelensky.”Remember thank you? You haven’t said thank you to us once in the past 15 seconds I’ve been yelling at you!”
Before long, Trump called out Zelensky’s attire.
“You’re not even wearing a suit,” Trump said. “It’s disrespectful. Who shows up to the White House in a t-shirt and jeans like a garbage person?”
Right on cue, SNL alum Mike Myers — portraying Elon Musk — crashed the sketch wielding a chainsaw and donned in Musk’s patented casual garb.
“Elon, we love your outfit,” Trump said. “Very official and respectful.”
“Donald, what are you doing in my office?” Myers’s Musk said. You know I’m the president now, right? I’m kidding. I’m kidding. OK, maybe not.”
After a bit more banter, James Austin Johnson brought the 7-minute long sketch in for a landing.
“I think that concludes a pretty much perfect press conference,” Trump said. Pointing to Zelensky, he added, “we humiliated this guy! And JD finally got to audition for Real Housewives of Potomac!”
