What a World We Live in: Scarborough Responds to Mean Trump Tweet in Real TimeScarborough Responds to Mean Trump Tweet in Real Time
In the twittersphere of political media, it can only take mere moments for people to respond to the latest smears, accusations, and digital jabs. Or, if you’re Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, you can respond to a Donald Trump Tweet live on-air just one minute after the real estate mogul hits “Send.”
That’s just what happened Monday morning when the show came back from commercial, as Mark Halperin announced that the account of @realDonaldTrump has blasted off this latest criticism of the show:
Wow, I hear @Morning_Joe has gone really hostile ever since I said I won’t do or watch the show anymore. They misrepresent my positions!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 9, 2016
“You know what? He watches. He watches!” said Scarborough before turning his attention directly to the camera lens to talk to Trump himself. “How you doin’ Donald? That’s very funny when you say you don’t watch this show. I think it’s cute. Keep it up.”
Halperin noted that while a Republican’s chances are considerably improved of reaching the White House if he/she is favorable to the press, Trump is, “alienating a lot of people.” He continued, “The press is really powerful.”
“He’s still at a time when he needs to grow and move into the general election,” concluded Scarborough. “He’s still picking petty fights with people he shouldn’t be fighting.” His cohost Mika Brzezinski lightly jabbed at the absurdity of the fact that Morning Joe had just devoted a block of programming to responding to the Tweet, mockingly asking if another Twitter war had erupted while they were sitting there.
