‘What the F*ck Happened?!’ Jon Stewart Tears Into Chuck Schumer, ‘Feckless’ Dems

The Daily Show host Jon Stewart tore into Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and the Democratic Party on Monday for not doing enough to take on President Donald Trump and the Republicans.

Reacting to Schumer’s decision to vote with Republicans in favor of a controversial continuing resolution, which other Democrats described as “harmful” to the country, Stewart questioned, “What the fuck happened?”

“You probably got a little something out of this, didn’t you?” he continued. “You wouldn’t have given up that powerful leverage on the budget for nothing. My guess is Chucky got some cheese.”

Stewart then played a clip revealing that Schumer didn’t receive any concessions from Republicans in exchange for his vote.

“Senator Schumer, uh, no disrespect but you are a disgrace to Jewish stereotypes about financial negotiations,” mocked Stewart. “What are you doing?! And those of you who felt like this was a total capitulation, Senator Schumer just felt like this wasn’t the moment for Democrats to press their case because Trump is still too strong.”

He continued, “But apparently the grand plan is Dems keep fecklessly complaining until [Trump’s] 48% approval comes down to 40, which is a plan, but it’s forgetting one crucial piece of information in Schumer’s popularity calculation.”

Stewart then displayed a poll which showed only 27% of registered voters have a positive view of the Democratic Party.

The Daily Show host also ridiculed Schumer over a remark he made about working with Republicans in the gym.

“I talk to them. One of the places is in the gym,” Schumer remarked. “When you’re on that bike in your shorts, panting away next to a Republican, a lot of the inhibitions come off.”

Stewart mocked, “That’s your fucking plan? ‘I’m gonna dangle my balls out of my shorts at the gym. Oh, you know, they’re gonna lose all their inhibitions on the equipment.’ ‘You know actually, Chuck, I would like to work with you on Medicaid reform, and also, I never told anybody this, but I once jerked a guy off in a park.'”

“In the gym, they’re only being agreeable with you because they want you to leave them alone!” Stewart concluded. “But I have to tell you something, pedalling really hard and not going anywhere is a great metaphor for the Democratic Party right now.”
