White House Responds To Rev. Franklin Graham’s ‘Preposterous Charges’

Yesterday Reverend Franklin Graham appeared on This Week with Christiane Amanpour and commented that President Obama “has some issues to deal with” in order to prove the legitimacy of his American citizenship. He also hinted having doubts about Obama’s religious devotion, suggesting a church membership alone “doesn’t make you a Christian.” Today, the White House responded.

White House press secretary Jay Carney replied to a reporter’s question today on the subject:

“I would just say I think it’s unfortunate that a religious leader would choose Easter Sunday to make preposterous charges. And I’ll leave it at that.”

Graham did say Obama was a “nice man,” before suggesting “he can solve this whole birth certificate issue pretty quickly” if he just produced the document. With Graham also suggesting he liked Donald Trump as a presidential candidate, it seems apparent Obama is unlikely to receive any warm holiday greetings from the Reverend in the future.
