‘Braverman Needs Time Off’: Piers Morgan Calls On Prime Minister To Sack Home Secretary
Piers Morgan blasted Home Secretary Suella Braverman for her conduct and statements, labelling her a “disgrace” to the government and the country and calling on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to fire her.
Morgan used the opening monologue of Thursday’s episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored to accuse Braverman of showing a “reckless disregard” for her high office, specifically citing her remarks in relation to the pro-Palestine demonstration scheduled for Armistice Day in London.
In an article written for The Times Thursday, Braverman said that the Metropolitan Police exhibited politicised favouritism by not intervening to stop the march. She also alleged that Islamists aimed to use the upcoming Saturday march to declare “primacy.”
Morgan argued that, rather than calling for calm, Braverman is “pouring fuel on the flames” of an already tense situation. He stressed that her comments come as officers prepare for what he described as “one of the most inflammatory public demonstrations in years.”
The host didn’t hold back, criticising Braverman’s comparison of Palestine supporters to Protestants in Northern Ireland in her op-ed, and her description of an anti-war protest as a “hate march.” He also mentioned her controversial views on homelessness expressed this week, noting her suggestion that being homeless is “a lifestyle choice” and her intent to ban sleeping in tents.
Morgan concluded by emphasising his belief in the right to peaceful protest and freedom of speech. He acknowledged the discomfort around the Armistice Day march but maintained that those inciting violence should be handled by the police.
The host called out Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for rehiring Braverman to the same job after a previous firing for a “massive security breach.”
“He needs to fire her again and this time for good,” Morgan signed off.
