Broadcaster Narinder Kaur reported Laurence Fox to police after he posted an explicit upskirt photo of her on social media.
The image, which depicts Kaur without underwear in a vehicle, was quickly criticised by users, with many slamming Fox’s decision as “low.”
In a since deleted post from Wednesday evening, Fox was mocking Kaur in connection with her criticism of Leilani Dowding in a debate about modesty, tweeting beside the photo: “We need standards in public life.”
Despite the backlash, Fox stood by his post initially, writing: “She can go cry victim all she wants. It’s not my fault she forgot to put her pants on, the whining cry bully hypocrite.” He told users accusing him of criminality to “jog on” and said he did not take the photo.
Upskirting, the act of taking unauthorised photographs under a person’s skirt, is a criminal offence in the UK, and the original paparazzi photo of Kaur was removed from circulation after the practice was criminalised. However, Fox’s decision to repost the photo has been condemned as an act of criminal intimate image abuse by social media users.
On Thursday morning, after communicating the personal distress caused by Fox’s post, Kaur told followers: “This is now a police matter.”
Fox, who recently lost a High Court libel case after a “paedophile” defamation online, was axed by GB News in September over what Ofcom ruled was a “clearly misogynistic” rant about Ava Evans, a reporter for PoliticsJOE. His comments, made to GB News presenter Dan Wootton, resulted in their suspensions. Wootton remained under investigation until March when he left the network to start his own outlet.
