GMB Hosts Spot Odd Detail On Keir Starmer’s Christmas Card
Hosts on ITV’s Good Morning Britain played a game with guests on Friday, asking whether they could spot the difference between Labour Party leader Keir Starmer’s official Christmas card and the original photo used.
Host Ben Shepherd challenged regular contributors Iain Dale and Jacqui Smith to the task.
“Rather lovely Christmas card, there he is with his wife,” the host said. “Something slightly unusual about this one though.”
“Anyone guess?” co-host Ranvir Singh joined in. “You’ve got one guess each. What’s strange about this photo?”
It didn’t take long for an answer.
“His wife, normally, in photos, is a little taller than he is,” Dale said.
“Let’s take a look at the original picture,” Shepherd said. “She certainly seems a little bit taller, Jacqui. Have they undertaken a little jiggery-pokery in order to make the Prime Minister in waiting feel a little bit more statuesque?”
Smith, who served as Home Secretary under former Labour Party Prime Minister Gordon Brown and who is a Starmer supporter, drew on some of her political training to resist the trap.
“I’ve no idea,” Smith said, to laughter from the hosts. “However tall he is he will make a fine prime minister.”
The team go on to critique several of the other official Christmas cards from political leaders, each of which seem to be suitably satirical. In classically chaotic fashion, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson decorates a drooping Christmas tree, while dressed unconvincingly as Santa Claus and propped halfway up a ladder.
Meanwhile, his successor, economy crashing Liz Truss, can be seen on her card smiling and sitting in front of a blazing fireplace, vaguely reminiscent of the disaster girl meme.
