‘Why Are You Stuttering?’ Piers Morgan Clashes With Guest in Heated Debate Over Gaza Bombing
In a fiery TalkTV interview, YouTuber and activist Mohammed Hijab clashed with host Piers Morgan, demanding he condemn the killing of children in Gaza.
Morgan invited Hijab onto his Piers Morgan Uncensored show Monday following Hijab’s reaction video to the commentator’s interview last week with Ben Shapiro, who spoke in defence of Israeli military actions. Hijab, who co-founded the Sapience Institute, demanded a debate “on fair grounds.”
The passionate exchange with Morgan began immediately when Hijab asked why Morgan had described him in the opening of the segment as a “controversial pro-Palestine influencer.” Once the host had backed down and corrected himself, the pair began discussing the actions of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The debate heated up when Hijab asked Morgan directly about his stance on the IDF’s actions. Morgan, in response, tried to provide context, referring to his previous statements on the matter, notably the Hamas attack on October 7. Hijab, however, pressed on, highlighting the frequency of such incidents and questioning Morgan’s apparent dismissal of their regularity.
Once Hijab had condemned the actions of Hamas, he proceeded to demand a similar concession from Morgan regarding Israeli actions, which have resulted in the deaths of children in Gaza.
In one intense segment, when Morgan stated his opinion, Hijab interjected with: “You are stuttering.”
Morgan replied: “I’m not stuttering.” Hijab fired back: “You are stuttering.”
The host continued: “You contest every single thing that I’m saying. I’ve pointed out that 1,300 people were brutally killed.”
Hijab furthered on the statistics: “2,000 people have been killed on the other side; 2,200 on the other side.”
Upon being asked to condemn their deaths, Morgan appeared to pause, to which Hijab immediately responded: “So you refuse to condemn?”
The guest continued to challenge Morgan to condemn the IDF’s actions, which he described as pressing “buttons from the sky, killing innocent civilians, 1,000 of them children.” Hijab asserted that such actions were morally unacceptable and equated to war crimes.
Morgan responded: “I believe, given the scale of what Hamas did, October 7th, that Israel is entitled…”
Hijab interrupted: “…to kill children.”
“No,” the host stopped him, “they are entitled to defend themselves with force.”
This prompted another swift response from Hijab, who questioned the morality of killing children at all and, additionally, as a means of defence.
In the wake of the interview, on Tuesday afternoon, Morgan took to X, formerly, Twitter to further elaborate on his stance regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
He reiterated his support for Israel’s right to self-defence, again, specifically referencing the initial Hamas attacks and drew attention to his consistent anti-violence advocacy, including his past opposition to the Iraq War.
He wrote: “The deaths of ALL children in this war are appalling and heart-breaking.”
Responding to those who claimed he had been silent on the suffering of Palestinians, Morgan retorted that he has consistently addressed “the plight of the Palestinian people” and told his critics that they “just weren’t listening.”
Despite his further comments, the TalkTV host remained resolute in his condemnation of Hamas’s attacks on October 7th.
“It’s imperative that Israel now respects international law,” he replied to one user, however, it’s equally necessary for Israel to “never let it happen again.”
