Robin Roberts Rebukes NRA Spox Dana Loesch For Claiming Media ‘Love Mass Shootings’: ‘Baseless’

Robin Roberts issued a stern rebuke to Dana Loesch on Good Morning America Friday, in response to the NRA spokeswoman’s controversial remarks at CPAC.

Loesch spoke at the conservative conference after NRA chief Wayne LaPierre, and said in her fiery speech that “many in legacy media love mass shootings,” adding that “crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media.”

“You guys love it,” Loesch told the unlucky reporters assembled in the hall to cover her speech.

Those remarks — which came after a far more docile Loesch was confronted by victims of last week’s mass shooting at a south Florida high school — have naturally drawn outrage.

After covering her comments on GMA Friday morning, co-host Robin Roberts was terse in her condemnation of the NRA talking head:

“Powerful statements but wrong statements,” Roberts said. “We do not do this for ratings.”

“That was a baseless claim,” ABC News correspondent Tom Llamas agreed.

“Baseless,” Roberts added.
