The primaries last night didn’t last as long as the Iowa caucuses, but it did take some time for the tallies from Michigan to roll in. Thankfully for Jon Stewart, the delay meant that cable news networks had to find something– anything– to fill that time with, from talking about their hometowns to, as Anderson Cooper did, just wander around the studio and talk to some backstage producers, only to not really get any news.

An hour after Mitt Romney hit Fox News for his post-Arizona/Michigan take on the Republican primary, an optimistic Rick Santorum visited Sean Hannity to discuss his popular vote loss in Michigan and how he broke even in delegates. Santorum also had to explain some of his comments over the weekend, particularly his attack on John F. Kennedy, and took a step away from social issues to blame the media for bringing them up.

Ann Coulter returned to The O’Reilly Factor today to discuss her candidate Mitt Romney‘s victories last night and the challenges he may face in the future, and she defended him by process of elimination, pointing out the flaws of the other candidates and wondering aloud when they will drop out. She also addressed the issue of Rep. Ron Paul possibly colluding with Romney to land his son a spot in the potential 2013 Cabinet, something she disproved to herself by noting that Rep. Paul “was also soft on Herman Cain.”

Mitt Romney earned himself two victories last night that solidified him once again as a frontrunner, and tonight paid a visit to Bill O’Reilly to discuss how he saw the battle for the nomination coming and whether he was prepared for attacks from Team Obama. Romney noted that attacks were both helpful and hurtful to his campaign in the primary and both attacked and defended super PACs, and left O’Reilly shocked that he had not previously mentioned that he gave much of his parents’ inheritance away.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was among those attending a party to launch Media Matters founder David Brock‘s new book, The Fox Effect, and reports show that the Democratic Nevada Senator may be among the books biggest supporters. According to Politico, Sen. Reid actually made comments to the crowd at the party, and promised, “I will do anything I can to make sure is a success.”

Rush Limbaugh is the provocative, outspoken voice of an army of conservative dittoheads, while The Young Turks‘ Cenk Uygur breathes fire from the left, so the two don’t often agree. However, the recent burning of Korans at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan, and subsequent deadly protests, have brought these two together for a brief moment that could throw open the gates of Hades and swallow civilization whole.

Today, UK newspaper The Guardian released an ad for its “Open Journalism,” their new collaborative campaign that aspires to promote a new model of journalism, one in which the reader and investigators are just as important in finding information and making sense of evidence as reporters. To demonstrate its power to, as the ad puts it, get “the whole picture,” it takes a classic fairy tale and retells it in the age of Twitter, turning “The Three Little Pigs” into an action-packed, conspiracy-laden film noir where the death of The Big Bad Wolf may have somehow inadvertently led to the development of the Occupy movement.

Last week, The Huffington Post published a column by author and Simpsons writer Larry Doyle entitled “The Jesus-Eating Cult of Rick Santorum.” In it, Doyle, a former Catholic, pretends to expose the terrifying truths of Catholic black-robed masses and “cannibalistic reverie.” The satirical piece has caused quite a stir and has now even gotten its own condemnation from The Five who devoted a whole segment to yelling about it. However, in the midst of their outraged reverie (I like that word and I’m gonna use it now), they seemed to completely miss the point.

He finds President Obama good-natured, but the Tea Party, he says, is quite the opposite.

Controversial pastor Franklin Graham expressed remorse for calling into question President Obama‘s faith in a statement released to Religion News Service. “I regret any comments I have ever made which may have cast any doubt on the personal faith of our president, Mr. Obama,” he said in a statement.

It is the job of every newscaster to delve deeper, to find the important angles of every story that someone might have missed. James O’Keefe, a conservative activist, is filing a law suit against Current TV, Keith Olbermann (who now hosts Countdown on the network) and David Shuster (a guest host). O’Keefe is claiming defamation for false reporting that O’Keefe had been accused of rape, and for false reporting that he is a “convicted felon.”

On Wednesday — a day after she announced she would not seek re-election — Maine Senator Olympia Snowe spoke to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell about her decision. During their conversation, Snowe stated it’s been “very, very difficult” to resolve major issues in the Senate, which was a factor she considered.

Religion is a touchy topic, and more so in the media realm — especially recently. From a New York Times columnist joking about Mitt Romney‘s Mormon faith to Rev. Franklin Graham questioning President Obama‘s Christianity, religion has been a solid source of controversy. So, awareness of its media portrayal seems only natural. Mark Thompson, the BBC’s director-general, said that, generally, Christianity is treated with less sensitivity than other religions.

Several months ago, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign released an ad which heavily implied that someone from President Obama’s reelection campaign said they would have to “Kill Romney” with personal attacks, even though that never happened. In a just-released web ad, the Romney campaign reconstructs that lie with a bizarre, paranoid dramatization of Michigan primary night at Obama campaign headquarters.
