Adam Sandler Explains Why He Will Never Host SNL

Bill Murray has hosted five times. Tina Fey has hosted four times. Will Ferrell has hosted three times. But former cast member Adam Sandler has never hosted Saturday Night Live, and he doesn’t plan to.
During an appearance on fellow SNL alum Norm Macdonald’s podcast this week, Sandler explained why he has no interest in revisiting the show that helped turn him into the massive movie star he is today (despite the disappointing performance of his latest, Blended).
“Why should I?” Sandler responded when Macdonald asked him why he won’t host the show. “I don’t know how good it would be. I’m slow now.” While he said there are some guys who “love doing it,” he just doesn’t think it would go well for him. “I did what I could do on that show,” he said.

There have certainly been instances of former cast members returning as hosts and failing to live up to their stellar reputations (see: Kristen Wiig). But then there have been triumphant returns to old glory like the 2012 Christmas episode hosted by Martin Short. At least Sandler seems to know which category he would fall in.
