Anthony Weiner: I Worry About Explaining ‘Birds and the Bees’ to My Young Son
There will come a time when disgraced former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York will have to explain sex things to his now 3-year-old son Jordan. It’s something Weiner is fretting over, he says.
In a new interview with Politico, Weiner, who resigned from office in 2011 after a sexting scandal, says his enduring reputation as an unfaithful sex freak and all the media coverage that went with it may serve as a lesson for Jordan, when he’s old enough to be exposed to it.
“Maybe, you know, it teaches him a little something about adversity and everything doesn’t go great all the time,” Weiner said, adding that he has “the birds and the bees to worry about.”
Weiner also said he’s fairly certain his political career is over, that he doesn’t miss Washington, D.C., and that he’s not a fan of the Netflix political drama House of Cards.
Things Weiner declines to discuss: the status of his relationship with the Clintons (his wife Huma Abedin served as a longtime aide to Hillary), and whether he’s still sending graphic text messages to other women.
He says he is now working on a nonprofit restaurant and enjoying fatherhood.
