Behold! Perry Releases Animated Video on Economic Freedom

PicMonkey Collage - perry animatedHas anyone ever seen Beavis and Butthead and thought, “this needs more Rick Perry and discussions about economic policy”? I doubt it.

Schoolhouse Rock! was able to make politics interesting because it was lighthearted, fun, and in many ways pioneered the genre of edu-tainment programming. Perry decided to give it a go as well by creating a tribute to his economic record as the governor of Texas, and the result was “Economic Freedom: An Animation”. Its quite something.

The video begins with a man driving through a gloomy-looking city, passing by signs with Barack Obama‘s campaign slogans while listening to reports of economic crisis on the radio.

After more references to economic depression, the man sees a sign leading to Texas, where it shows his life and the nation getting a whole lot better. The short goes on to make references to classic cultural pieces like Jeopardy!, I Love Lucy, and Cheers before moving on to Wheel of Fortune, where a contestant solves the puzzle for Perry’s request for campaign donors.

The video ends with a person’s smartphone turning into a receptacle for campaign donations upon reaching Perry’s campaign website, but to truly appreciate that this exists, watch it for yourself below:
