Billy Eichner Rips Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Naive’ Chats With Trump: ‘You Can’t Be Fluffing a Nazi Sympathizer’s Hair’

aziz-billy-eichner-e1481566798165Actor/comedian Billy Eichner was no fan of Jimmy Fallon‘s cozy chats with President-elect Donald Trump during primary season and the general election campaign.

In an interview with New York Magazine’s culture website Vulture, Eichner — who called Fallon otherwise “terrific” — said the Tonight Show star was “naive” to provide Trump with such a comfortable platform.

“I don’t think that was a good moment,” Eichner said. “Moving forward, with how potentially dangerous these guys can be, you can’t be fluffing a Nazi sympathizer’s hair on television.”

Eichner added:

“I thought it was naïve and a bit of a slap in the face to all the people that I know for a fact Jimmy Fallon loves and celebrates: the LGBT community, women, people of color.”

The Billy on the Street creator and star recently mixed it up on Twitter with Fox News personality Meghan McCain — whom he referred to as a “fucking moron” over her criticism of Meryl Streep‘s takedown of Trump at the Golden Globes.

Eichner clearly does not hold Fallon in the same regard as McCain, but did tell Vulture he believes Fallon has a “responsibility not to take things lightly,” given the size and breadth of his audience.

In that instance, he just didn’t think it through. You’re doing your show every day, and sometimes things slip through the cracks. I hope that he’ll be more mindful of that because Jimmy does have a big platform. He gets double the ratings of the other guys. He is probably speaking to more Trump voters than you or I. And I do think there’s a responsibility to not take things lightly. Even if you’re a performer whose go-to is to focus more on the more lighthearted stuff. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling he wouldn’t it (sic) again.
