Black Friday Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Injured Outside Shopping Mall
Black Friday has come again, and unfortunately, it has already been connected to violence at a New Jersey shopping mall.
At approximately 1 A.M., police officers arrived at Hamilton Mall to address a shooting that took place near the Macy’s department store in Mays Landing. A 20-year-old Atlantic City man was pronounced dead from multiple gunshots at the scene, and the victim’s 26-year-old brother was hospitalized after getting shot in the leg.
“It’s a tragedy. It’s very sad and it’s very scary, you know,” said one shopper who spoke with CBS Philadelphia. “You’re starting off the holiday season and you’re excited about the upcoming times with family and now there’s going to be family who are missing people and their holidays will never be the same.”
Officials are currently looking over the crime scene, with a lot of interest going towards a silver SUV in the parking lot that was riddled with bullet holes. Shoppers were lined up to enter the mall for when it opened at 6 A.M. and they have spoken with police officers about the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
