Boehner: Impeachment Talk Is Democratic ‘Scam’

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) dismissed any plans to impeach President Barack Obama Tuesday, calling it a “scam” perpetrated by the White House and congressional Democrats to fundraise.

“This whole talk about impeachment is coming from the president’s own staff, and coming from Democrats on Capitol Hill,” Boehner said. “Why? Because they’re trying to rally their people to give money and to show up in this year’s election.”

“We have no plans to impeach the president,” he continued. “We have no future plans. It’s all a scam started by Democrats at the White House.”

Three weeks ago Boehner, who is shepherding a lawsuit that many see as his alternative to impeachment talk, was fending off questions about impeachment thanks to Sarah Palin.
