NBC News Reporting Obama To Pick Elena Kagan As SCOTUS Nominee

NBC’s Pete Williams is reporting that President Obama plans to nominate Elena Kagan to the US Supreme Court to succeed Justice John Paul Stevens, who announced his retirement last month. From the report:

She is currently a senior Justice Department official — the first woman to be solicitor general, the nation’s top courtroom advocate.

She was also the first woman dean of Harvard Law School. And she taught at the University of Chicago, where she met a young Barack Obama.

And if confirmed, she’d be the court’s fourth woman justice — and the third to currently sit on the court.

Officials say the president will make the announcement tomorrow morning at the White House.

On Friday, Politico’s Mike Allen posted that the announcement would come Monday and would likely be Kagan: “The pick isn’t official, but top White House aides will be shocked if it’s otherwise.” Interestingly, it was also ABC News’ pick last month during their fake news drill. CNN reports on the story below. You can read more about Kagan here.

    She’s cute.

    Cute like a stomach pump.

Just what we need, the hack who covered up the plagiarism scandal at Harvard Law School. She was so eager to brush everything under the carpet that she allowed the chief plagiarist to use the school’s web page to promote Holocaust “revisionism”.

This won’t make the left too happy. Salon’s Greenwald has been writing anti-Kagan articles.

President Obama is doing great things believe it or not. All we need is another woman on the bench, complaing of cramps and headaches. This is the best the Anti Obama all the time crowd can come up with. If President Obama chooses Kagan as his second nominee for the Supreme Court, she has raised the bar for her own hearings. I hope he does a better job with this country than the other politicians have.

Swell! Another Liberal ‘elite’ who can’t relate to anyone ‘Not of her Kind.’ If ‘Patches’ Kennedy were female, this would be ‘her.’

She did claim that it’s “legal” to designate someone an enemy combatant who was captured in a non combat environment.

She was also against ROTC on campuses, even thought the Supreme Court thought other wise.

I am not particularly enthused with this choice. To be sure, Kagan is a brilliant legal scholar and will offer a far broader and deeper understanding of the law to the Court than it has known in decades. Kagan is not, by any standard, a judicial activist in the Scalia, Alito and Roberts school of activism. I was hoping for a pick better able to confront the rightist activists on the Court. President Obama, played to the middle, indeed slightly right of center, on this nomination as well. Kagan will be a stellar jurist, to be sure, but I am not sure she gives us the make-up we need until the school of rightist jusdicial activisim at long last ends.

Can someone please delete the SPAM?

They would if they ever read what we said, but apparently, they don’t.

trrk, as usual, types words but says nothing. Try backing up one thing, just stating it does not make it so. You say Kagan is right of center but don’t back up your statement. You call Justices Scalia, Alito and Roberts activist but don’t give an example of their activism. Your opinion is without weight and justly ignored.
