CBS Responds to Attkisson’s Claims About Network Reporting Bias
Former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson has been very vocal about how CBS pushed back on reports she did critical of the Obama administration. On CNN’s Reliable Sources Sunday, Attkisson went after both her former network and Media Matters; the former for muzzling stories and the latter for targeting her.
Attkisson has repeatedly argued that while CBS didn’t really get in her way when it came to covering issues critical of George W. Bush, bus when it came to the same with President Obama, she was called a “troublemaker” and sensed a chilling effect for journalists everywhere.
CBS responded today in a statement to TVNewser.
“CBS News maintains the highest journalistic standards in what it chooses to put on the air,” CBS News spokesperson Sonya McNair tells TVNewser in response to Attkisson’s claims. “Those standards are applied without fear or favor.”
Media Matters also responded to Attkisson today, saying she has nothing to blame for them targeting her but her “shoddy reporting.”
