Chicago PD Releases Video of Officer Repeatedly Shooting Black Teen

The Chicago Police Department tonight released video showing Officer Jason Van Dyke repeatedly shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.

The shooting took place on October 20th, 2014, and Van Dyke had confronted McDonald, who was holding a knife, and told him to put it down. He didn’t respond, and Van Dyke ended up firing 16 shots.

The disturbing video (WARNING: GRAPHIC) shows McDonald being shot multiple times (even after he fell to the ground).

Van Dyke was charged by prosecutors with first-degree murder. Before the video was released, Chicago police officials and Mayor Rahm Emanuel held a press conference to urge calm.
