Cop Suspended After Being Caught on Video Punching Suspect

A South Carolina police officer was suspended after being caught on video punching someone in the face multiple times. Tyrone Pugh and other officers were trying to break up a fight in the parking lot of the concert venue Sound Stage in Columbia.

During the clash, Pugh cornered one individual and proceeded to punch him several times. You can hear someone in the background of the video shouting, “Why are you punching him?!” Pugh shouts back, “Back the fuck up.”

The person who took video of the incident explained, “He said, ‘I didn’t do anything.’ He wasn’t resisting. I think it was unnecessary. Two other cops there were aggressive but not like that.”

After the Columbia Police Department became aware of the video, they suspended Pugh without pay pending an internal investigation into the matter.
