Dem Senator Releases Ad Attacking Opponent over Ebola

VIDEO

Crazy season affects both parties, apparently. Just one day after a GOP Senatorial candidate came under scrutiny for an attack ad that featured American journalist James Foley’s executioner, a Democratic Senator has cut an ad criticizing his opponent for votes that could spread the ebola virus.

The 30-second ad for Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR), who’s in one of the most watched Senate races of the midterms, hit Representative Tom Cotton (R-AR) for voting against authorization of public health programs in 2013 while approving upper class tax cuts. Or, as the ad put it: “Tom Cotton voted against preparing Americans for pandemics like ebola.” Cotton was the sole Arkansas lawmaker to vote this way, earning him the title “ONLY ONE AGAINST PANDEMIC RESPONSE.”

The ebola outbreak in West Africa is the most severe in the virus’ history, but its only contact with U.S. soil was two missionaries who were evacuated to an Atlanta hospital — one specially designed by the CDC, to Pryor’s credit — where they were successfully treated for the virus.
