Donald Trump Claims CNBC Has Agreed to Two-Hour Republican Debate (UPDATED)

trumpCNBC has reportedly trimmed the October 28th Republican debate down to two hours just one day after GOP candidates threatened to boycott the debate.

Republican frontrunners Donald Trump and Ben Carson told CNBC that they would not attend the debate in Boulder, Colorado unless the debate was shortened. “The GOP should not agree to the ridiculous debate terms that CNBC is asking unless there is a major benefit to the party,” Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

But Trump claimed victory on Twitter Friday morning, saying CNBC told him the debate would be shortened.

CNBC says that for the moment, they will not comment on Trump’s tweet.

UPDATE — 11:02 a.m. ET:  CNBC has reportedly agreed to Trump’s call of limiting the upcoming Republican debate to only 2 hours. CNN reports that members of the Republican National Committee  were beginning to call the candidates on Friday to inform them of the decision, and that the format will include opening and closing statements within the 2 allotted hours, including commercials.
