Excerpts Of President Obama’s Speech On the American Jobs Act

Ahead of President Obama‘s address to a joint session of Congress, the White House has released excerpts of the speech: (via email from The White House)

Excerpts of the President’s Speech on the American Jobs Act

The people of this country work hard to meet their responsibilities. The question tonight is whether we’ll meet ours. The question is whether, in the face of an ongoing national crisis, we can stop the political circus and actually do something to help the economy; whether we can restore some of the fairness and security that has defined this nation since our beginning.

Those of us here tonight cannot solve all of our nation’s woes. Ultimately, our recovery will be driven not by Washington, but by our businesses and our workers. But we can help. We can make a difference. There are steps we can take right now to improve people’s lives.

I am sending this Congress a plan that you should pass right away. It’s called the American Jobs Act. There should be nothing controversial about this piece of legislation. Everything in here is the kind of proposal that’s been supported by both Democrats and Republicans – including many who sit here tonight. And everything in this bill will be paid for. Everything.

The purpose of the American Jobs Act is simple: to put more people back to work and more money in the pockets of those who are working. It will create more jobs for construction workers, more jobs for teachers, more jobs for veterans, and more jobs for the long-term unemployed. It will provide a tax break for companies who hire new workers, and it will cut payroll taxes in half for every working American and every small business. It will provide a jolt to an economy that has stalled, and give companies confidence that if they invest and hire, there will be customers for their products and services. You should pass this jobs plan right away.

Does anyone know how many markets are playing the Green Bay vs. Saints game versus his speech? I know that the Milwaukee market is playing the football game.

O – “And everything in this bill will be paid for. Everything.”

Lol.  Except he’s not going to say how…you’ll have to wait.  He’ll get back to us on that…in another speech on the campaign trail.  That’s also when he’ll roll out the entire plan.  In increments, on the campaign trail.

Why has it taken Obama 3 years to see that we need jobs? Is this speech about creating jobs for America or is it about him trying to keep his? Mr. President we the people see through your thinly vailed self preservation.

All I know is that I’ll be watching the game. I already know what Obungles is going to say…it’s Bush’s fault and let’s raise taxes and spend more…and if you disagree with him you are anti American…you know…the same old bull shit.

The latest  ” Obama’s Hand & Blow Job Act ” is an all out assault on the ” real ” American people.

This douchebag just cannot get it through his thin skinned coconut head that when we say ‘ NO ‘, We the People mean it.

    W.H. talking points released .  Stil lBush’s fault .

The teleprompter script for tonight’s speech by President Barack Obama is still a secret, but the White House’s script for spinning reporters, bloggers, and their audiences has been leaked to The Daily Caller.White House officials distributed a set of talking points early Thursday to guide Democratic legislators and advocacy groups who will be filling up the airwaves, Internet message boards and printing presses before and after Obama’s speech tonight to a joint session of Congress. The talking points repeat Obama’s favored campaign-trail themes, depicting the economy as a victim of President George W. Bush; the Republicans as unpatriotic and greedy partisans; and Obama as an optimistic, fair-minded, reformist, bipartisan, fiscal moderate.

You can see that conviction in the teleprompters eyes as it reminisces about it’s earlier days of having a paper route, mowing lawns, shoveling snow, working it’s way through school, and going out to make a living in the private sector as it’s selling a jobs program.. How can Obama emulate the teleprompter?

As I and millions of other Americans suspected. More of the same.
This time it will be doled out in such a way the the temporary employment recovery will coincide with November 2012.
The charts on the economy will parallel those of 2009 through 2011 and in 2015 we will be in the same condition or worse economically as we are right now. Barrack FDR Obama to the rescue with a stagnant an weak economy for a very long time to come. Aw, to hell with all that prosperity crap….right?

How many markets are playing his Speech versus the Green Bay-Saints game??  You have no clue what you’re talking about.

How was the wars paid for?  Did Bush ever tell us how those got paid for?  Tax cuts?

    Clue: Bush is retired.

The heart and soul of the Obama Administration is that it isn’t the Bush Administration, so it’s time to lean forward and embrace the Hopenchange.

So, how is Libya getting paid for? Did Obama ever tell us how that’s getting paid for?

  • WardMD

Exerpts of Obama Speech?  What is THAT defined as?  Repeat of a Repeat?  Or Deja vu (all over again)?

  • Nancillarypeloslinton

The larger political subtext of Mr. Obama’s speech is that if Congress doesn’t pass his plan, he’ll then campaign against Republicans as obstructionist. Thus his speech mantra that Congress should “pass it right away.” This ignores that Mr. Obama has been the least obstructed President since LBJ in 1965 or FDR in 1933, which is how we got here.He passed $830 billion in stimulus, $3 billion for cash for clunkers, $30 billion in small business loans, $30 billion for mortgage modification, the GM-Chrysler bailouts, ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank, credit card price controls, Build America Bonds, jobless benefits for a record 99 weeks, and more. The only priorities that a Democratic Congress blocked were cap-and-tax and union card check, and both of those would have further damaged growth and jobs. Even last December, after Republicans had retaken the House, Mr. Obama won his one-year payroll tax cut, more jobless benefits and most of what he wanted. The unfortunate reality is that even if Republicans gave Mr. Obama everything he wanted, the impact on growth would be modest at best. Washington can most help the economy with serious spending restraint, permanent tax-rate cuts, regulatory relief and repeal of ObamaCare. What won’t help growth is more temporary, targeted political conjuring.

Clue: I don’t care, we are still fighting his wars.  Libya would be the cost of a naval exercise.  Just like a right winger has to answer the question with a question.

Please don’t include me in your “We the People mean it” inclusion.  Obama’s trying to give “the Republicans what they asked for in terms of this Job Act.  Do you just “hate” him or are you really thinking about people out of work, no health care, etc. Who are you kidding, no other President has had to endure so much resistance at the expense of “We the People.”  Could this be coming from of place unconcious guilt and racism?  I have never seen so much carelessness about “being our brother’s keeper” Is always going to be about money, power and greed?
