Fox Reporter: NRA New Membership And Donations Have ‘Surged’ Since Newtown Massacre
Fox News reporter James Rosen revealed on Wednesday that a source within the National Rifle Association indicated that the pro-gun lobbying organization has experienced a “surge” in new membership and individual contributions since last Friday’s shootings in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 schoolchildren and 7 adults dead.
In the late afternoon, Rosen tweeted that a source told him that new membership for the NRA has surged to “roughly 8,000 new registrations” per day since Newtown:
Rosen also noted, by tweet, that the source claims the organization has received a surge in both individual contributions and average donation amounts:
Immediately after the massacre, the NRA had remained silent for several days to respect the mourning period, and then released a statement indicating that they are “prepared to offer meaningful contributions” to “make sure this never happens again.” Rosen reported during Special Report that the organization soon plans to begin a pushback against the pro-gun control lobby’s efforts to reinstate a nationwide assault weapons ban and a bill to end the so-called “gun show loophole.”
