George H.W. Bush Really Doesn’t Like Being Featured in Dem Candidate’s Ad

Senate candidate Michelle Nunn is a Democrat running in Georgia, a very Republican state, so she’s emphasizing her bipartisan credentials and work for former President George H.W. Bush. But Bush isn’t really happy with Nunn featuring him in one of her new ads, and a Bush spokesperson said Nunn did this despite repeated requests to not use the former president’s likeness in her campaign ads.

In the ad in question, Nunn addresses a picture of her with President Obama (that her opponent is taking advantage of) by explaining it was taken at an event honoring Bush. She says, “It was taken at an event honoring President Bush, who I worked for as CEO of his Points of Light Foundation.”

However, Bush has apparently not been too keen about being featured in Nunn’s ads, and a spokesman put out this statement in response:

Michelle and her team have been clearly, repeatedly and consistently told that President Bush did not want them to use his photo as part of this campaign. Apparently, the Nunn team feels they can repeatedly disregard the former president’s wishes, which is very disappointing because it’s so disrespectful.

A statement from the Nunn campaign says Nunn holds “the utmost respect” for the former president.
