GOP Rep. Whose SOTU Invite Went to Kim Davis Had No Idea Until Today

imageedit_76_9154014717Yesterday, we told you that Kim Davis will be attending the State of the Union tonight. Earlier reports from various sources were saying that the congressperson who gave her the ticket was “unnamed,” but it turns out that the responsible rep didn’t even know he was the one who did it.

At first, when pressed by The Huffington Post, Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio maintained that he had not invited anyone to the address, instead opting to give his ticket to conservative Christian lobbying organization the Family Research Council. After checking with his staff, however, he learned that technically, he had invited someone else.

“”Yeah, so we gave a ticket to — at the request of the Family Research Council — we gave the ticket to Kim Davis’ family,” he admitted.

Ultimately, he said he is “okay” with Davis being the recipient of the ticket. As for me, I’m okay with it, too, provided Davis runs into President Barack Obama‘s guest, James Obergefell, on the way to the bathroom and a photojournalist just happens to be there to catch the whole thing.
