Jill Abramson Is The New York Times‘ New Executive Editor

Huge news in the world of print, and kitten videos: Jill Abramson has been named as The New York Times‘ new executive editor, taking over for Bill Keller, who is stepping down to become a “mere” writer at the paper.

Abramson, now the Times‘s first female executive editor, has spent seven years as its managing editor. In 2010, she took a hiatus from the paper in order to look into digital strategy in advance of the NYTimes.com paywall. She had formerly worked as an investigative reporter and Washington bureau chief for the paper.

Abramson officially takes the helm on September 6th.

A September 2010 New York magazine profile of Abramson described the seasoned reporter and editor as being perhaps more vital to the Times brand than Keller himself, dubbing her the paper’s “heiress apparent:”

She can be an imperious boss, critical when she thinks the Times is falling behind competitors. In many respects, she’s more alpha than Keller, with a confidence that makes some Times people still smarting from the Raines era a little nervous. And she’s not the only one in the hunt for the job.

In addition, Dean Baquet moves from holding the position of the paper’s Washington bureau chief to becoming its managing editor.

Just what the NYT needs, another left wing extremist.

The sound you hear is the NYT in it’s final throws of death.  Good riddance!

Meet the new leftwing nutcase.. same as the old leftwing nutcase.

Bravo NY Times. You’re on your way to a swift rebound to be certain.

You smell that? Do you smell that? Liberals failing. I love the smell of liberals failing in the morning.

    Mwahahahahaha

Actually that sound you hear is the vacuum that’s formed in the head of Tommy Christopher having to deal with the death of his legislative hero, Anthony Weiner.

I heard that she echoed Jon Stewart’s sentiments that she’d seen Anthony Weiner’s penis and it isn’t that big.

I’m sure she will bring balance to the NYT. *chuckle*

    What progress!?!

“Abramson to replace Keller as The Times’s executive editor”

…rearranging lunatic-left d-cRAT socialist deck chairs on the “all the news that fit to fake” Titanic.

  • TucsonTerpFan

The NYTimes has enough “writers,” what’s missing is “readers.” This paper is a thing of the past. It used to be a “newspaper.” Now, it’s “an agenda journal.”

    Flash: “deck chairs get moved.”

So now we will have somebody else to help fulfill NYT’s true credo:

“All the news that fits, we print.”

What quote by new NY Times editor Jill Abramson was taken off the NY Times site within 12 hours of publication — because it was too revealing of her agenda — and quite creepily Orwellian? You won’t find out at Mediaite, but Commentary is paying attention.
