Kim Jong Un Reportedly Doesn’t Have a Plane That Can Fly Him All The Way to The U.S.

While North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un says he’s ready to meet with President Donald Trump, he may be missing one thing: a plane that can actually fly him to the U.S.

North Korea wields an army staffed by close to five percent of its population, more than 1,300 aircraft, 4,300 tanks, 70 submarines and 5,500 rocket launchers, among a long list of other features, but it might not have a plane capable of reaching crossing the Pacific Ocean without stopping, The Washington Post reported.

That would only be an issue if a meeting occurs, and if Trump suggests that it take place in the U.S., which is an entirely plausible scenario given the president’s habit of posturing around other world leaders.

If faced with traveling to the U.S., one alternative for Kim would be hitching a ride from South Korea or another country, which would likely be an embarrassment for the dictator, the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Victor Cha told the Post.

Trump has said a U.S.-North Korea summit could happen in May or June, but he hasn’t hinted yet at the location. It has been speculated that other options could be Sweden, Switzerland or Singapore, according to the Post.

Locations aside, Kim has already been shown testing his flight skills in a video released by the North Korean government. In the 2015 clip, Kim is seen piloting a small plane as it moves down a runway. Another clip from 2014 actually shows him flying in the air.
