Milo Yiannopoulos’ Media Venture Faces Layoffs, Money Woes

Far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopolous‘ media company is facing hard times.

Milo Entertainment Inc once enjoyed the backing of Robert and Rebekah Mercer and employed several full-time staffers to promote Yiannopoulos’ fiery conservative brand.

However, according to a Politico report, after the Mercers severed ties and new funding sources fell through, Yiannopoulos was left with few options but to let his staff go.

“He fired everybody,” one person told Politico, while another person close to the situation noted, “People are very, very furious.”

Until recently, the former Breitbart editor had held out hopes for an infusion of cash from cryptocurrency billionaire Matthew Mellon. Mellon, however, died unexpectedly Those hopes were dashed, though, when Mellon died, unexpectedly, on April 16 after a battle with drug addiction.

With few other funding sources on the horizon, Mellon’s death left Yiannopoulos few options but to let people go.

Always the spin artist, however, the Milo Entertainment entrepreneur is painting the gutting of his staff as simply a minor setback and one that will not stop his brand from getting out there.

“The video component of my daily show was stopped recently as the cost wasn’t justifiable,” he wrote in a text message to Politico. “Show is now audio only. There were two layoffs as a result. But nothing has changed elsewhere or at Dangerous.com.”
