Mitt Romney Gets Glitter Bombed In Minnesota

Mitt Romney was reportedly glitter bombed before a rally in Eagan Minnesota, according to ABC News reporter Emily Friedman.

Friedman reports that the Republican frontrunner appeared “covered in glitter before a campaign crowd.”

“This is confetti! We just won Florida,” Romney told the crowd. In footage from the event, family members were shown brushing off the glitter from the presidential hopeful’s blazer — much of it was still visible in his hair. After Romney began to shake hands, protesters thrust even more of it in his face. Fortunately, AP photographer Gerald Herbert was there to capture the moment.

LGBT protester Nick Espinosa claimed responsibility for the attack, tweeting that he yelled “feel the rainbow, the 1% pays for hate, you’re not welcome in our state!” at the former Massachusetts governor.

Glitter bombing has been used as a tactic by activists to raise awareness of their target’s positions on gay rights issues — as Rick Santorum found out in Iowa when he took a fistful of glitter to the face by a demonstrator who yelled “Stop the hate, taste the rainbow!”
