More Than One Million Viewers Watch Casey Anthony Verdict Live On CNN’s Website
The huge interest in the murder trial of Casey Anthony swept the internet this afternoon, as jurors in the case announced their not guilty verdict on the most serious charges. CNN reports that during the 2 p.m.-3 p.m. hour when the verdict was announced, more than one million people were watching the network’s live stream from Orlando via CNN.com–an audience thirty times higher than the average audience over the last month.
Word of the impending announcement of a verdict in the case, which has brought huge ratings to CNN’s sister network, HLN, also showed in visits today to the CNN “latest news” page on CNN.com. The page got about 12 million hits between 2 and 3 o’clock, four times higher than normal.
