Oklahoma Inmate Dies from Heart Attack After Botched Execution
An Oklahoma inmate was scheduled for execution on Tuesday, but the procedure did not go as planned. His execution was halted after the drug delivery was botched and he ended up dying of a heart attack. The execution of a second inmate of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections has been postponed for the time being.
Clayton Lockett‘s body did not respond normally to the drug injection and started convulsing. The chemicals did not reportedly enter the body as they were supposed to, and officials said there was a vein failure. Lockett died soon after, and Charles Warner has received a stay of execution as a result of the botched first execution.
