Petition Requests Pope Visit and Bless D.C. Metro ‘So It Actually Works’

shutterstock_291759536A new online petition is requesting that Pope Francis visit and bless the Metro during his stay in Washington D.C. this week.

According to DCist, the Change.org petition — titled “Get the Pope to bless the DC Metro system so it actually works” — half-jokingly, half-serious begs the pontiff to bless the oft-plagued underground form of public transit while visiting the nation’s capital. Why? Because, as petition author Noah Rosenheck writes, “at this point I’m willing to try anything.”

The petition, which currently sits at just over 2,500 signatures, tells the Pope that the city’s “Metro system is having some troubles,” and that everyone “would be grateful if you could find the time to bless it during your upcoming stay.”

“Maybe a Papal Blessing is just what it needs,” says Rosenheck.

Besides, Francis’ visit would probably do the Metro a helluva lot more good than Frank Underwood‘s did.
