Rick Santorum Accuses Bill O’Reilly Of Refusing To Interview Him Because He ‘Wasn’t Worthy’

With the Iowa caucus 24 hours away and the tension mounting on the three campaigns still vying for a clear lead, potential frontrunner Rick Santorum has started lashing out at the media– both conservative and liberal. On the radio today with host Mike Gallagher, Santorum accused the “elite media” of having a “general attitude” that they know better than voters so pervasive that it even appeared in Fox News, and accused Bill O’Reilly of “refus[ing] to put me on his program.”

Santorum noted that the pundits coming to Iowa “don’t even talk to the candidates” and base their judgments on preconceived notions, advising voters to not “defer your judgment to pundits who know less about these candidates than you do.” “I’ve seen the media just completely try to shape this race,” he continued, adding that it occurred not only with the liberal media, but “even Fox News. You know, Bill O’Reilly has refused to put me on his program,” he told Gallagher. “I’m just not– as far as he was concerned, I wasn’t a worthy enough candidate to earn a spot to sit across from him and be on his program.” He also laughed at the idea of “folks supposedly in the conservative media who are saying ‘we’re going to choose who we think are going to win’ and then complain the mainstream media does the same thing.”

Fighting the media took Newt Gingrich‘s numbers to levels no one could have predicted after his first staff exodus, and it could perhaps make a difference for Santorum given how close the polls numbers in Iowa were last night. But starting a war with Fox News, where, O’Reilly notwithstanding, Santorum has gotten plenty of airtime, may be a bit of an uphill battle. Bill O’Reilly is expected to address Santorum’s comments on his program tonight.

Surprising. Typically, a douche bag like O’Reilly would gravitate toward a douche bag like Santorum.

Well Rick, sheep want to be told who to vote for.

    P.S.
I like what Rand Paul called Rick Santorum: “a war-mongering moderate.”

He’s right about O’Rielly, who hasn’t been right about anything since the Ames straw poll in August.

  • Dead_Air

Google has apparently figured Santorum out.

Santorum surging all but helps Obama.  The guy is considered nuts in his own party.

  • Mo Fokker

Fox News wants Romney to win and the sheep baggers are grudgingly closing ranks behind him.

weren’t you told to vote for obama? ROFLMBAO!

Nothing is funnier than the anti Fox folks.  It was just a couple of weeks ago that the liberal meme was that Fox had selected Newt to be the candidate!!

How easy is it when you define your entire worldview by being anti Fox?  Does it make life easier to not use your critical thinking skills?

If Fox lies, than any critique they have of left wing policies is untrue.  Wow, that was easy.

    Faux Lies!!!

The interesting point being that it is no longer a liberal meme.  Right wing evangelical and libertarian candidates are attempting to broaden the old MSM critique to include FNC.  This is a result of the right wing civil conflict… new fault lines threatening ties that were once believed strong.

It’s interesting to note that Fox is one of the only networks to give libertarianism a voice – John Stossel, Andrew Napolitano, Charlie Gasparino, Andy Levy, etc…

Agree or disagree with those beliefs, people benefit from the marketplace of ideas.  The more the merrier…

BillO needs to get this turkey in the No-Spin Zone and tear him a new one.

I certainly agree on that point.

The power of the Tea Party is unabated within the GOP and among the right-wing electorate in many places in the country. No honest conservative will ever be able to vote or eagerly support Mitt Romney in a general election tilt against Barack Obama. The door is open for Ron Paul or another conservative third-party challenger to galvanize the Tea Party and hand Obama a second term. ick Santorum is the last chance for the Tea Party and evangelicals to defeat Romney and at least make the primary a real fight for Romney. It would not be shocking if the Right coalesces around Santorum and spurs him to victory in Iowa and elsewhere. http://www.sunstateactivist.org

For once Santorum finally gets something right.

A last minute third party bid would be political suicide, ensuring only Obama’s reelection, and tea party folks are smarter than to follow the advice of those who’d led them off the bridge.

Thanks for pretending to care, anyway.

What’s he crying about. I’ve seen Santorum interviewed on Fox at least several times over the last 5 days, Santorum is right, he’s not worthy. Even if he wins Iowa with 25%, he’ll get 6 out of the 25 delegates. Beyond that he’s going anywhere. Donors don’t see him as a winner and he’s not going to get a lot of financial support. Donors won’t contribute to a loser.

No worries Rick, Rupert mentioned you in one of his tweets and he’s going to get Bill with the program.

Item #1: I think we all agree that Bill is a RINO…..

Here is what kills me about the martyr complex that the crazy people now have. Santorum was a paid contributor on Fox. I am pretty sure they aren’t biased again you, Rick.

Call it a free market hunch if that helps.

Because he’s not worthy is right, he’s not. “Icky Dick” Santorum, Mr. Corruption Personified, is worse than Obama for the presidency – he doesn’t just want to keep us in unsustainable, imperialistic wars – he wants us in NEW ones!

HELLO – CAN WE FIX OUR COUNTRY BEFORE TRYING TO FIX OTHERS?

    Thanks for nothing, Dick.

Here’s a critical thought, genius.  How about you fess up to the fact that Fox News has lied on tape dozens of times.  Falsifying news stories, intentionally skewing news towards their republican bias.  All of which is public record that cannot be denied by people like you.

Oh wait let me stop.  You’re a Fox News junkie aren’t you?  Well there is only one cure for that.  Walk over to the TV and TURN IT OFF.  Now sit at your computer and go to  Reuters.com or AP.org and get some REAL UNBIASED news.  But that’s the problem with the Fox news junkie.  They don’t want the truth.  They want to be spoon fed as much hate and political fodder their gluttonous brain can pack in.

Here’s something for your critical thinking skills.  Think for yourself for once.

Talk about biting the hand that has kept Romney in the race this is one big one.  FOX has given him more time, TLC than any other candidate – talk about ungrateful.
Besides if O’Riley has Santorum on his show one more time you can bet I’ll find something else to watch.
Looks like Santorum is losing it – big-time.
