Rumsfeld Responds to Bush Sr. Calling Him ‘Arrogant’: He’s ‘Getting Up in Years’
A new biography of George H.W. Bush reveals the president has some critical thoughts of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. Well, Rumsfeld responded with a bit of a personal shot today.
Bush calls Rumsfeld “arrogant” in Jon Meacham‘s biography of him, saying there’s “a lack of humility” with Rumsfeld and that “he’s more kick ass and take names.”
He also called Cheney “iron-ass.”
Earlier today, George W. Bush released a statement defending both members of his administration:
“I am proud to have served with Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld,” the younger Mr. Bush said. “Dick Cheney did a superb job as vice president and I was fortunate to have him by my side throughout my presidency. Don Rumsfeld ably led the Pentagon and was an effective Secretary of Defense. I am grateful to both men for their good advice, selfless service to our country, and friendship.”
Rumsfeld’s brief response was much more blunt:
Wow –> This Rumsfeld stmt to NBC on Bush 41: “Bush 41 is getting up in years and misjudges Bush 43, who I found made his own decisions"
