Sarah Palin Supports Dr. Laura In N-Word Controversy, Wants Her To ‘Reload’

Apparently Sarah Palin fully supports Dr. Laura, who announced Tuesday she would be quitting radio following controversy over her numerous use of the N-word on her show earlier this week.

Palin, who earlier this year famously called for Rahm Emanuel‘s firing after a second-hand report surfaced that he had used the word retard in a closed-door meeting, and who has spent and inordinate amount of time refudiating the Lower Manhattan mosque on the basis that it is insensitive, is one-hundred percent on Dr. Laura’s side. In fact, she would like Dr. Laura to “reload.” From her twitter feed last night:

Dr.Laura:don’t retreat…reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence”isn’t American,not fair”)

Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!

It’s unclear what Palin’s motivation was for jumping into the Dr. Laura fray (Toure asks: “What in Dr. Laura’s voice should America be thankful for? That she’s ok w saying nigger & Don’t NAACP me?”). Especially considering the vitriol Dr. Laura spewed at Palin back in 2008 after McCain tapped her as his VP nominee. Via Joan Walsh at Salon who dug this up from Dr. Laura’s blog in Sept 2008:

I’m stunned – couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?

If Palin were the sort of person who submitted herself to interviews outside the safe confines of her paying Fox News gig one might ask her why the Lower Manhattan mosque builders should be expected to give up their First Amendment right to practice religion because it is insensitive to the families of 9/11 victims, but Dr. Laura should be encouraged to reload after using one of the more offensive and disrespectful terms in American History. Alas, one imagines it’s probably not best to hold your breath whilst waiting for Palin to explain or refudiate the hypocrisy.

Misleading title. Palin supports the First Amendment, nothing said about the “N” word.

It is time to quit allowing the left define what people can say and what they can’t say. I don’t care if people use the “N” word in reporting how black people use it. The whole story about Dr. Laura was a non-story. We need to take back our free speech. Screw the faux sensitive left.

  • NORBIT

Yea, what a bunch of Phony “Sensitivity”!

What? – Some people, like rappers, can say it whenever they want, in whatever context…but there’s special rules based on your skin color who can’t say the dreaded n-word in any context!

She wasn’t using it as a dirge, so it’s ridiculous that this Race-Based SELECTIVE SENSORSHIP should go on!

  • NORBIT

This is all part of the RACIAL POLITICS Democrats have been using for 50 years!

It’s time to start EXPOSING THESE LIES – and the Lying Media who spread them!!!

Having been born in, raised in and having spent the greater part of my adult life in Texas, on the edge of the Old South, I can say the “n” word is always offensive. It’s use is never justified or densible. Those who use it or condone the usage of it are the sorriest sort of trash who deserve to be shunned by decent, civil society. Frankly, if FOX has any decency or integrity, it would can the Drop Out Governor over her endorsement of those who use the “n” word. Her job is safe, of course.

Nice she can call for a Democrat resign for using his First Amendment right to us the word “retard” in a private conversation and say its ok for Rush Limbaugh to use that word talking to his millions of listeners and say that OK it was a joke. What she needs to do is Refudiate Laura’s comments now. Its great to her her bash the left and politically correct, but she has NEVER had the guts to call out anything bad or unjust from a person on the Right.

But the Constitution gives people the right to say the “n” word.

Are you libs saying that while it is a right, we should be cognizant of the sensitivities of others?

That’s rich; you have no such position re: the mosque in NYC!

it’s not a matter of how the left defines what someone can or can’t say, it’s a matter of how comfortable someone feels when they say the n word and whether or not they are comfortable being a racist…

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Just a reminder for the wingers here as to what the first amendment is. The sponsors left her before the show ended, I don’t recall what government entity got her to quit. I don’t think there was one, probably because there isn’t. Also, the part about how she shouldn’t have married outside of her race, that was definitely the most disturbing part of it all. Her ignorance about the word nigger is to simply put something that destroys her credibility… not that she had any considering her serious idiocy concerning everything dealing with modern psychology. Like when she called gays a “biological error” and also said “a huge portion of the male homosexual populace is predatory on young boys.” Oh boy, did that ever get her tv show off the air.

Context people, it’s all about context.

Funny, my 19 year old black godson is always trying to get me to say it. It makes him laugh. But then he doesn’t want me to berate him, he just wants me to step into his world a bit and use the word like I might use “dude” or “man.” Take off the ‘-er’ and add an ‘-ie.’ and it’s even better.

So, I guess this comment is what people who don’t associate closely with the black community believe.

That’s nice, but let me tell you something. As an African-American, I do not use the word, I do not like the word, I do not tolerate the word in the same way that I do not like or tolerate usage of racial slurs against other races. You shouldn’t tolerate the usage in any way, Mr. Marceaux, you might get kicked out of the freedman’s bureau for that.

Yes, let’s start with the fact that nobody, even in the African-American community, respects him anymore since his usage of the word on FOX? But then again you probably don’t associate with many African-Americans, so you probably wouldn’t know.

I assume most responses across internet message boards on this topic will be the same:

“Sarah Palin….tea-partiers…right wing…..go listen to glen back/hannity/limbaugh…tea-baggers….go burn a cross and wear a sheet to your kkk meeting….racism increased….thinks he’s Muslim….your a bigot because you hate mosques….sourthern rednecks.”

Sarah, darlin’, please, please, please stop endorcing the very worst in human nature. You’re making all conservatives look like ignorant, arrogant, bigots (which I can assure you most are not). Think woman… Think… before you speak. Now…. Let’s get this straight My Fellow Americans (and Sarah and Laura)… the 1st amendment guarantees that your government will not limit your right to say what you want. It DOES NOT guarantee that other Americans will not criticize you for your views. Please read the Constitution. It’s a great document. “Dr” Laura is neither a medical doctor nor ANY kind of mental health professional. She’s a hack… who has handed out bad advice for way toooooo long. Good Riddance. Why she thinks she can blithely dish out a word that was gleefully used by other whites while they burned little children alive in a southern church is beyond me (btw… I am white). It’s disgusting, contemptible and vile. There is no excuse, no rationalization and no reason for it’s use except that it exposes what some of us have always known… this woman is a bigot and not all that bright about it.

what would so satisfy me is if we can ambush some real politicians like the tan guy and the south carolina senator to comment in support of Palins support of Dr. Laura. Watch the track meet. But that would be the so-called mainstream media race baiting, not the so-called Black Panther voter non-intimidation case that Fox directed and forced down Americans conscience.

Im noticiing the political suicide and the false sense of security these republicans have about November. From my perspective, I can’t hardly wait for November either. i see another Democratic beatdown akin to 2006. Keep believing those Rasmussen polls.

Just another example of Sarah Palin doing anything & everything to keep her name in the public. I don’t think she has any real convictions, whatever is in the news –she jumps on it!! I think people are starting to see through her with all these latest antics, she has to be an embarrassment to true republicans & conservatives, who really believe in what they say!!

KMlake, exactly correct. DonnaK, you make a good point. One thing you did not mention about Sarah Palin, that is it is all about the money. She will say and do anything to get press. Anyone criticizing Schlessinger is violating her 1st Amend.rights and need to be summarily imprisoned!

    That’s seriously how right-wingers think.

Same with religion, you have a right to religious freedom as long as the religion is Christianity.

Or the press, freedom of the press as long as it supports their right-wing view.

Ultra-nationalistic fascism, that’s what wingnut really believe in.

  • NORBIT

Maybe Pelosi should INVESTIGATE who’s funding OR promoting (mainstream media!) the opposition to Schlessinger!!!

  • roxsteady

Chalk it up to just one more thing that moron doesn’t know. Oh, and here’s one more. She also tweeted this after being mocked by the women from Emily’s List

“Who hijacked the term feminist? A cackle of radicals who want to crucify other women with whom they disagree on a singular issue. It’s ironic and passe.”

Sadly, so is she. Which is why we Liberals have been laughing at her ever since she hit the stage. As Media Matters and every human being with a brain knows, she probably meant a gaggle of radicals. Doesn’t she know the difference between the 2 words? Of course not. I wonder what she thinks of Dr. Laura now? Maybe we could get Jake Tapper to ask her be tweeting?

  • roxsteady

By the way kids, the First Amendment applies to government.

“The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law “respecting an establishment of religion”, impeding the free exercise of religion, infringing on the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

Originally, the First Amendment only applied to the Congress. However, starting with Gitlow v. New York, 268 U.S. 652 (1925), the Supreme Court held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment applies the First Amendment to each state, including any local government.”

Got that? She can say anything she pleases but, if her employer objects and wants to fire her, they have that right as well. Or she can quit if you believe she did.

  • Ted-

Interesting. A tone deaf, dim-witted, half term gov., failed VP candidate suggesting that another dim-wit “reload” when comes to racial epithets. It’s nonsense, but then when you realize its Sarah Palin it makes perfect sense.

  • timzank

So, would you all please clarify for me? We’re (white people) not supposed to use that word even if we are reciting verbatim what somebody else said, right? How reading it silently? Is that ok? If I see the word in literature, as long as I don’t sound it out, that’s okay then right?

“Because if you are a white human that loves America and happens to be a Christian, forget about it, Jack.”

“This president I think has exposed himself over and over again as a guy who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture….I’m not saying he doesn’t like white people, I’m saying he has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist.”
