Sony Is Pulling The Interview from Dec. 25th Release

Sony has decided to pull the Christmas Day release of The Interview, after threats from hackers led the top movie theater chains in the country to decide against screening it.

Both CNN and Reuters broke the news late this afternoon:

And CNN’s Brian Stelter obtained this full statement from Sony Pictures:

It’s important to note here: this doesn’t mean the movie won’t be released on a later date or just go to video on demand instead of being released in theaters, but that they’re just pulling it from its planned release date.

Well, that was quick.

UPDATE- 5:14 pm EST: Oh, and of course, Sony will be pulling all the television advertising for the movie.
