Surprise, Surprise: Trump Slams ‘Overrated’ Meryl Streep After Globes Speech: ‘Hillary Flunky’
Well, for those of you who watched Meryl Streep‘s stirring speech at the Golden Globes Sunday night and thought I bet Donald Trump will take to Twitter to call her overrated, you’ve won! He continued, addressing the longstanding controversy that he allegedly mocked a disabled reporter on the campaign trial last year, something that Streep invoked during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes. Serge Kovaleski is the New York Times reporter with arthrogryposis who many believe was cruelly mocked by then Republican candidate for President, a claim he has vehemently denied. “When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose,” said Streep Sunday night.
The legendary performer continued at one point of her speech, “There was one performance this year that stunned me — it sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh, and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter.”
