Tea Party-Backed Marco Rubio Wins Florida

The networks are declaring Republican candidate Marco Rubio has won the U.S. Senate race in Florida. The Tea Party-backed candidate defeated both Democrat Kendrick Meek and Independent Charlie Crist, whom Rubio pushed out of the Republican Party in the state’s primary race. “This man is a rising star,” Brit Hume said on Fox News, confirming that the win is a strong pick-up for the Tea Party movement that seeks to make its mark on Congress.

Brit Hume on FOX News’ panel putting things into perspective around 8PM when more and more results were coming in:

“Well so far from the exit polling, the results we have — it looks like a very good night for the Republicans. But not the kind of stupendous, blowout, earthquake of a night in which they would be able to win not only \ house seats up into the 90’s and win all of the close Senate races. It looks like a very good night but not yet a stupendous night.”
