Ted Cruz Roasted For Time 100 Blurb on Trump: ‘One of the Most Humiliating Things Ever Written’

There’s not much that could possibly be more embarrassing to one’s personal brand than gloating about the person who dubbed you a liar, discredited your life’s work and attacked your wife and family.

But that’s exactly what Sen. Ted Cruz (R—TX) did when he wrote a blurb about President Donald Trump for the Time magazine 100 most influential list of people of the year. The commentary about Trump’s first year in office is just 165 words in total, but long enough for Twitter users to tear it apart as “nauseating and sycophantic.”

In the mini-profile, Cruz hails Trump as a “flash-bang grenade thrown into Washington by the forgotten men and women of America,” claiming his ability to frustrate the press with his daily scandals “is not a bug but a feature” of his tenure in office.

“Call me old fashioned, but if I were Ted Cruz and Donald Trump had personally branded me as a liar, suggested he had dirt on my wife, spread rumors that my father assassinated JFK, and was, you know, Donald Trump, I’d probably pass on writing his effusive TIME magazine blurb,,” HuffPost’s Matt Fuller tweeted Thursday morning. Meanwhile, other users shared quotes Cruz made throughout the 2016 campaign, attacking Trump and calling him a “pathological liar,” among other insults.
